The Mezzaun Detachment Fault designates the southwestern rim of the underlying dome-shaped Murtiröl Slice. It is one of the most spectacular normal faults of the Austroalpine, attributed to the Late Cretaceous phase of extension that postdates Cretaceous shortening but predates Cenozoic collision.

In the Rätikon area (northeast corner of the Prättigau Half-Window), Nagel (2006) correlates the sedimentary «Southern Mittagspitz Zone» with the Schiahorn Nappe, both having a similar stratigraphic sequence with respect to the Allgäu Nappe, as well as a structurally comparable position with it.

The Martegnas Mélange is a tectonic mélange situated in the upper (overturned) limb of the Niemet-Beverin Backfold, at the contact between the Schams Nappe Complex and the Arblatsch Flysch (Tomül Nappe).

Das im Ostschams vorkommende Martegnas-Melange lässt sich über das Scharnier der Niemet-Beverin-Falte mit dem Areua-Bruschghorn-Melange im Westschams verbinden.
The Upper Austroalpine embraces those units originating from the Adriatic continental plate that are interpreted to originally have been relatively more proximal in respect to the distal continental margin units preserved in the Lower Austroalpine, which it overthrust. The Upper Austroalpine units underwent less deformation during the opening of the Piemonte-Liguria Ocean and generally appear less intensely deformed during the Alpine orogeny. Many of them are basement-cover nappes, except for the small Roggenstock-Mördergruebi Nappe, the nappes of the Northern Calcareous Alps and the Quattervals Nappe, which are made up entirely of sedimentary rocks.

The Isorno Zone (Western Lepontic) corresponds to the Bosco and Bombogno zones in the southern part of the eastern (upper) limb of the large polyphase Alpe Bosa-Wandfluhhorn Fold (located between the Maggia and Antigorio valleys), where these two zones cannot be distinguished. It consists of a very heterogeneous series of para- and orthogneisses, amphibolites, meta-gabbros, ultramafites, calc-schists and marbles that underwent an Oligocene amphibolite faciesmetamorphism.
