p.71: The Alp Cavradi Gneiss Complex corresponds to the “Paragneis am Nordrand des Gotthard-Massivs” of NIGGLI (1944) with sericite-biotite gneiss as the dominant lithology. Layers of phyllite, quartzite and graphitic schist are intercalated with the gneiss. NIGGLI (1944) indicated an age between the emplacement of the Ordovician “Streifengneis” and the Permian Medel Granite/Cristallina Granodiorite for the protoliths of these metasedimentary rocks. In contrast, AMBÜHL (1929) interpreted the sericite-biotite gneiss as a surface alteration of the metasedimentary rocks at the contact with Carboniferous–Permian sedimentary rocks.
