The Tasna Nappe is a Middle Penninic tectonic unit of the Lower Engadine Window. In its western apart, its continental basement is stratigraphically overlain by Triassic to Jurassic sediments that have close similarities to those found in the Falknis Nappe. North of Ardez a Cretaceous–Paleogene sequence, again similar to that of the Briançonnais-derived Falknis Nappe, unconformably covers a former ocean-continent transition characterized by a detachment fault that exhumed subcontinental mantle.
