(

1993) :
Alluvial fan sedimentation and structure of the southern Molasse Basin margin, Lake Thun area, Switzerland. Eclogae geol. Helv. 86/3, 717-750
(
Separated by a structural discordance and an erosional unconformity from the older fans, the third major fan, the Blueme fan of Late Chattian age, is distinguished by a very different petrofacies with an epidote dominated heavy mineral suite and predominance of igneous clasts in the conglomerates. It consists ofthe Thun Conglomerate, itself comprised by the Hünibach Conglomerate and the Gunten Quartzite Conglomerate, with a total thickness of more than 4000 m in the centre of the fan. The general coarsening upward trend continues through this unit in parallel with an increasingly more braided depositional pattern indicative ofincreasing proximality and higher gradient.
