Geological Map of the Aar Massif, Tavetsch and Gotthard Nappes. Geological Special Map 1:100'000, Explanatory Notes 129
p.42: WEBER (1924) mapped a long, continuous and up to 600m thick band of rhyolitic and volcanic rocks in the southeastern Aar Massif. Due to the lack of modern detailed investigations, but trying to respect the international nomenclature rules, this band was defined as the Alp Lumpegna -Alp da Glivers Zone, formed by the rhyolitic rocks of the Val Lumpegna Formation. Following OBERHÄNSLI et al.(1988), the Val Lumpegna Formation was assigned a Late Carboniferous age. Due to the lack of both a clear chronological relationships with respect to the Variscan plutonic rocks, and of available age determinations, an alternative attribution of the Val Lumpegna Formation to the Cavardiras Group cannot be excluded.
