Niveaux peu résistants à l'altération, ayant sans doute favorisé le développement des vallées du Rhône et de Ferret notamment.

Geographical extent
Bande relativement étroite pouvant se suivre depuis le Val Ferret, via Sion et Brigue, jusque dans la région du Simplon-Scherbadung. Vers le sud, cette unité se relie à la «zone des Brèches de Tarentaise».
