    The Pizzo del Vallone Nappe is a tectonic unit of the Western Lepontic (Toce Culmination) surrounding the Monte Leone Nappe in the large synformal Berisal Backfold. It is composed of a detrital sedimentary series covering the entire Mesozoic and possibly the Paleogene, characterized by Jurassic basaltic rocks. The crystalline basement occurs in the western part of the nappe, both north and south of the Monte Leone Nappe.
