Description

Couverture sédimentaire permo-triasique de la nappe du Mont Mary comprenant des conglomérats et grès (quartzites) à la base, puis des calcaires plus ou moins purs (avec niveaux de tuff volcanique), des dolomites et des cornieules.

Dal Piaz et al. 2015: carbonate to flysch-type metasediments (Cretaceous?), basinal limestones, syn-rift scarp breccias, Late Triassic to Jurassic platform carbonates, basal quartzites

Hellwig 2003: Diese Vorkommen werden im Bereich des italienischen Valpelline, Val d´Aosta und Valtournanche als Roisan Zone zusammengefaßt (Canepa et al. 1990; Höpfer 1995). Die Permotriassische bis Mitteltriassische sedimentäre Abfolge in der Roisan Zone reicht von basalen Konglomeraten und Sandsteinen über unreine und reine Kalke mit Tuffen bis zu Dolomiten mit Rauhwacken. (Höpfer 1995). Der Kontakt zwischen den Metasedimenten und der Arolla Serie liegt einerseits als primär sedimentär vor, anderenorts ist er tektonischer Natur (Höpfer 1995).

Affleurements discontinus le long de la zone de cisaillement entre la nappe de la Dent Blanche et la nappe du Mt Mary-Cervino-Pillonet: Valpelline (Roisan, Col de St-Barhélemy) et Valtournanche (Col de Chaléby, Cuney, Cima Bianca, Becca di Salé). Prolongation incertaine au NE par le Bivacco Balestreri, la région de la Tête de Valpelline, puis le Zmuttgletscher, pour se perdre finalement dans le massif des Gabelhörner.

p.81: The Roisan-Cignana Shear Zone consists of slices of Mesozoic sediments and crystalline basement in a mylonitic matrix derived from the adjacent Dent Blanche Nappe (Arolla Unit) and of the Mont Mary Nappe (Lower and Upper units) (Manzotti et al. 2014 a). The high-pressure mineral assemblages along the contact between these tectonic slices indicates that their emplacement occurred in an early deformation stage, before or during the subduction.
