p.61: The Val Pigniu Gneiss Complex (GGl) includes a sliver of metasedimentary gneiss surrounded by Carboniferous–Permian clastic and volcanic rocks of the Glarus Verrucano Group outcropping in an area between Brigels and Val Pigniu. In some places, intrusions of small dioritic bodies within this gneiss complex are observed (WEBER 1924). Locally, stratigraphic contacts indicate that some occurrences of the metasedimentary gneiss could represent the crystalline basement of the Glarus Nappe Complex. In some other outcrops, a possible transition between pre-Variscan metasedimentary gneiss and Permian sedimentary and volcanic rocks is questionable. Due to the scarcity of outcrops in this area, the tectonic position of the Val Pigniu Gneiss Complex cannot completely be attested (see discussion on p. 105 ff.).
