Description

Description

Série volcano-sédimentaire d'âge "Viséen supérieur", métamorphisée en faciès schiste vert.

Metamorphozed and variably deformed phyllites, graywackes and sandstones, which recrystallized in greenschist facies conditions. Interlayered with the metagraywackes are found meter-thick bands of green metavolcanites (e.g. at the train station of Les Houches) of basaltic to andesitic composition

Conditions of formation

Fe-basalts of E-MORB affinity (Dobmeier 1996), possibly recording Early Carboniferous transtension linked to the opening of the sedimentary basin and to the 330-340 Ma high-K magmatic pulse (Bussy et al. 2001).
