The Moûtiers Slice forms the external part of the Sion-Courmayeur Nappe in Savoy and in the Valle d’Aosta. It comprises Carboniferous, Triassic and Cretaceous metasediments.

The Lower Stalden Slice is a Middle Penninic tectonic unit occuring between Visp and the Simplonpass and attributed to the Zone Houillère by lithological (graphitic schist and paragneiss) and structural analogy. It is overlain by the Upper Stalden Nappe and separated from the Sion-Courmayeur Nappe by the southern branch of the Rhône-Simplon Fault.

The Jägerchrüz Nappe is a Lower Helvetic tectonic nappe of the Western Swiss Alps, constituted by a Triassic–Paleogene sedimentary series overlying the Plammis Nappe and overlain by the Upper Helvetic Wildhorn Nappe Complex.

The Tschingelhörner Slices are Lower Helvetic tectonic slices occurring on top of the Schabell Mélange and consisting mainly of Cretaceous limestones. These slices, characteristic of the footwall of the Glarus Thrust, were torn off their substratum during the thrusting of the Glarus Nappe Complex. Further north, under the Glarus Nappe Complex, thin slices of similar but more deformed limestones («Lochsiten-Kalk») occupy the same structural position.

The Lugano-Monte Grona-Val Grande Fault System is a major Mesozoic normal fault of the South Alpine domain. It is subdivided into three segments: the N–S trending Lugano Fault (between Mendrisio and Lugano), the W–E oriented Monte Grona Fault (between Lugano and Lago di Como) and the SW–NE oriented Val Grande Fault (between Lago di Como and M. Legnone).

The small Rothorn Nappe, with a basement-cover sequence, directly underlies the Upper Austroalpine Schiahorn Nappe in the southwestern part of the Prättigau Half-Window, between Tiefencastel and Arosa.

The Lower Austroalpine Carungas Slice, consisting of a band of predominantly overturned Mesozoic sediments and its associated crystalline basement, forms the hangingwall of the Platta Nappe and the footwall of the Err Nappe. This slice extends from east of Savognin all the way to the Julierpass road above Bivio, along the western margin of the Err Nappe (Manatschal & Nievergelt 1997, their “lower Err Nappe”). The small portion of crystalline rock wedged between the two branches of the Engadine Fault near Sils Maria is also related to the Carungas Slice. This slice is derived from the most distal part of the former Adriatic continental margin.

The Aar Massif is a Lower Helvetic External Massif of the central part of the Swiss Alps. It is constituted of a pre-Variscan to Variscan polycyclic metamorphic basement with Variscan intrusions, of Permo-Carboniferous grabens filled with volcano-sedimentary rocks and of an autochthonous to parautochthonous Mesozoic–Cenozoic sedimentary cover. It is subdivided by several faults into a large External Aar Massif and a thinner Internal Aar Massif to the south-east.

The Sella Nappe is a Salassic tectonic unit that contains only upper crustal granitoids and paragneisses, very similar to that of the overlying Err and Bernina nappe complexes. A thin Mesozoic cover is present mainly at the front of the nappe in the northwest and from there over a few kilometers of its upper limb.

The Griessstock Nappe is one of several small Lower Helvetic tectonic units of the Klausenpass region, wedged between the sedimentary series of the Aar massif and the Axen Thrust. It is constituted by Late Jurassic to Paleogene sediments (Quinten to Taveyannaz formations) that were deposited further south than the autochthonous-parautochthonous sediments of the Aar Massif, but still in the North Helvetic realm.
